You do NOT have to take the IELTs test in order to register with the Irish Medical Council. However some public hospitals in Ireland are making it obligatory to take the test in order to be employed at the hospital. The pass result is an overall band score of 7 points in the whole of the test and a minumum of 6,5 points in each section (listening, reading, writting and speaking).
